Why is Nancy Reagan Trending on Twitter

I feel compelled to share my thoughts on the current social media uproar. This past weekend, Twitter went crazy over two of the most unlikely people in the world: Madonna and Nancy Reagan.

It all began with Abigail Shapiro’s incredibly insulting remark against Madonna. Abigail claims to be a powerful voice for conservative causes.

Since her brother became famous, she has become well-known in society and is now recognised as a talented opera singer. She expresses her very opinionated and divisive views on her blog, podcast, and YouTube channel.

Do you think she deserved the lesson in history that she got? Yes. Are women still being pitted against one another and put on display in the year 2021? We most certainly do. Is the fact that a lady started it all any worse? And sure, absolutely it is.

Some people loved her initial tweet, while others hated it. Some others even shared my first impressions and ideas. There are, however, a few other points I’d want to bring up after giving them some thought.

Nancy Reagan, the iconic former First Lady of the United States, has always been a subject of public interest. But recently, her name popped up in trending topics on Twitter, prompting many to delve deeper into her life and legacy.

This article sheds light on some of the burning questions about Nancy Reagan, from her family life to her public persona.

1: This Was Extremely “Classy” On Her Part

One’s own biases and preconceptions will always colour one’s evaluation of another person. What values, traditions, and principles you were instilled with based on your upbringing. You will be influenced by all of these factors when evaluating other people.

Although many people were commenting on how uncouth this was on Classy Abby’s part, I saw things differently. The word “classy,” which originally referred to affluence, has fallen out of favour in recent years.

Human society still uses it today to divide people into different “classes.” Humans employ this word to differentiate between those who are wealthy, attractive, valued, and disposable.

It’s a word we should have abandoned long ago because it’s founded on artificial constructs of the time, society, people, and culture in which it was created.

Since she doesn’t agree with Madonna’s photo, style, dress, or position choice, she concludes that Madonna lacks sophistication. In other words, she thinks women are less than other women if they are sexual, provocative, or reveal too much skin.

That other group of women, who adhere to more conventional norms of female conduct and appearance. For the numerous elegant ways that Shapiro conducts herself and expresses her views, I believe this to be perfectly up her alley.

She is also true in saying that Nancy Reagan typified the phrase she uses to define herself.

2: She Made an Effort to Make Women Compete with One Another.

Supporters of Madonna rushed to her defence, and they amusingly turned the tables on Shapiro. The parallel was meant to be a scathing attack on Madonna’s reputation. But in an instant, Abigail was thrust into the spotlight, and Nancy Reagan became a meme, all thanks to social media.

I think more and more people are becoming aware of the outdated beliefs that women must always compete with one another. Even though she could have selected any old photo of Madonna from the family, she opted for this one instead.

She took the opportunity to insult her, but the internet taught her a lesson in history instead. The lesson supposedly revealed that Nancy Reagan was well-known as a blow job provider throughout her acting career.

Some people were making sexist remarks about it, while others were attempting to put Nancy down because of it. The general sentiment seemed to be one of disappointment that Abigail had chosen such a hypocrite.

The Reagans are notorious for their negative impact on the anti-drug and anti-pornography movements.

For Some Reason, This Doesn’t Set Well with Me Either.

It was the implications of this news for someone I deeply dislike that I found most difficult to accept. It was difficult to be an actor in that era because of the way women were treated and viewed culturally and socially. Weren’t these merely unfounded rumours?

Or perhaps Nancy is one of the countless women whose knees have been forced under the false premise that they enjoyed it. According to a survey conducted by USA TODAY, 94% of the 843 women polled had experienced sexual harassment or assault at some point during their employment in Hollywood.

What I have seen and heard of her, including her time as First Lady, allows me to draw parallels between her and Madonna. I find the rest of it amusing, but it makes me uneasy as a woman who has been objectified, preyed upon, and discriminated against in the workplace.

The fact that I am sitting here considering Nancy and a possible human shared experience while Classical Abby condemns women for their misfortunes disturbs me even more.

3: An Overview of Madonna’s Charitable Past

Finally, I find it both lovely and crucial that many individuals responded by calling attention to Classical Abby’s target audience. Madonna is more than a sex and music superstar.

While Abby the classical music fan probably cringes at the thought of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin,” I think of her as a strong, influential, and powerful lady. As a person, I reflect on her compassion and self-awareness.

During the early stages of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Madonna was a vocal supporter. She was committed to raising awareness and funding for research after losing friends to the illness. Several of Madonna’s nonprofits were founded (i.e., the Ray of Light Foundation and Raising Malawi).

It would be impossible to enumerate all of her accomplishments; she has contributed to the development of paediatric hospitals, organisations that focus on helping the poor and disadvantaged, and much more. I quote: “Madame X is a freedom fighter.”
