Noah Lyles, along with American teammates Erriyon Knighton and Kenny Bednarek, has qualified for Thursday’s (21 July) men’s 200m final as he tries to win a second consecutive global medal following Doha 2019.
After slowing down in the middle of the semi-final due to a cramp, Fred Kerley’s hopes of completing a sprint double at these track and field championships were dashed. It was an all-American top three in the men’s 100-meter dash on Saturday, won by the silver medalist from Tokyo 2020.
Everything you need to know about the finals, from the participants and their respective star powers to the dates and times of the matches and the means by which you may catch all the action, is included below.

Any predictions for the men’s 200-meter final?
A lightning-fast and nail-biting race to the finish.
200-meter world champion Lyles cruised through his heat on Tuesday, 18 July, with a time of 19.98, and then won the final in a time of 19.62, edging out Olympic silver medalist Bednarek, who ran a season best of 19.84, for the second automatic qualifying spot.
Jereem Richards (19.86), a bronze medalist from London 2017, and Luxolo Adams (20.09), from of South Africa, advanced as fastest losers from their semi-final thanks to Lyles’s strong performance.
After missing the podium in his senior debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games in 2021, where he ran the second-fastest time of the day (19.71), the then-18-year-old Knighton is still a strong contender for the podium.
Canada’s Aaron Brown, who finished second to Knighton in the 200-meter semifinals, will represent the country in the final after Andre De Grasse’s injury kept him from competing.
After qualifying in second place in 19.92 behind Alexender Ogando, who decreased his Dominican record from the heats to 19.91, Joseph Fahnbulleh will also be on the blocks on Thursday. He won the 100- and 200-meter NCAA crowns earlier this month (June).
After competing in the Tokyo Olympics, Liberian Fahnbulleh will be competing in his second consecutive championship in pursuit of his country’s first-ever medal at the Worlds.
